New Member Benefit "Content To Go"

May 20, 2009 23:42 by Monica Williams

At ASTD, we understand how important it is to demonstrate value. Our goal is to provide you with the best content, networking, tools, and service that will help you succeed in your job and your career.

To provide you with even better access to how-to content and tools, we are starting a new benefit called “ASTD Content To Go.” This package provides quick access to expertise about a hot topic in workplace learning and performance. To get you started, we have collected trends on talent management, e-learning, and leadership development, and posted this content and research all in one place. Each month, we will pull together the best ASTD resources on important trends in the field. Future topics include career development, employee engagement, skills gap, sales training, and more.

And the best part? All of this content is included as part of your membership with ASTD – all you need to do is enter your user ID and password to access everything.

Check out your new benefit and let us know how you like it!

Shout Out for ASTD

May 20, 2009 23:41 by Monica Williams

Do you or someone you love have an interest in being a trainer?

Back in 1999, when a mentor heard that I got a promotion to be a corporate trainer she immediately suggested the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD). “You’ll love the people. It will feel like home.” What wonderful conversations...

Too Much of a Good Thing

April 17, 2009 19:07 by Monica Williams

Several weeks ago we announced the availability of our latest White Paper -- Keep Learning Mission Critical: How to Communicate the Value of Learning in Difficult Economic Times.

The demand for the download overwhelmed the ASTD online store, and left us scrambling for solutions and ways to make good on an unfortunate situation!

For anyone who tried to download the paper could not, we express our sincere apologies! If you are willing to try again -- or haven't yet tried, the paper is available here

New Online Library Gives Members the Advantage

March 10, 2009 23:55 by Monica Williams

As an ASTD member you have a library on your desktop. Simply sign in on www.astd.org, and go to the ASTD Online Library. Within a few keystrokes you will be able to search and read full text articles from more than 3000 of the most respected periodicals, journals, and magazines available through the Business Source Corporate database. And that's not all. The ASTD online library also includes The McClatchy-Tribune Collection with a 90-day archive of nearly 300 newspapers from the McClatchy-Tribune Information Services, and  full text coverage for regional business publications from 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States. Use Business Book Summaries to take a sneak peek at a collection of 700 (and growing) business titles.

To learn more about the new ASTD Online Library, watch this short introduction.

We've heard from a couple of members already. Let us know if your experience matches theirs!

"I think this is a tremendous resource. It is more than worth the value of membership by itself. I knew many resources were available to members but didn't know the depth."
Michael Sabbag, M.A., SPHR

"I love the ASTD Online Library! It was quick and easy to navigate -- and in less than one minute I had the info that I was looking for!"
