Houston Community
College announced a major campaign Wednesday, saying it has joined
forces with other organizations to promote job training opportunities
that can help Houstonians survive the recession.
“We’ve weathered it
more than most places, but job growth has slowed down,” Mayor Bill
White said. “There are employers looking for employees.”
He noted that
growing fields include property management, early childhood
development, heating and air conditioning installation and repair,
teaching and medical billing — fields in which HCC and other community
colleges offer training.
