Gov. Jay Nixon on Tuesday announced a $12 million initiative to expand
job-training programs at Missouri's community colleges to help more
Missourians gain employment skills.
The announcement came nearly two months after the governor toured
several community colleges, including Ozarks Technical Community
College in Springfield.
On the tour, Nixon said getting more people to work would be the key to turning around the state economy.
He
said the task of job training would be best done at community colleges,
which are nimble in their programs and work closely with area employers.
