NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sitel,
a leading global business process outsourcing (BPO) provider, today
announced that the Company expects President
Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to have a positive
impact on the domestic outsourcing industry. A cornerstone of the
package is to bring increased broadband access to rural communities
throughout the U.S., which will allow Sitel and other BPO providers to
recruit home-based agents from a wider geographical area.
“The home-based agent solution has gained increasing popularity in
recent years,” said Amit Shankardass, chief global marketing officer at
Sitel. “This unique model provides greater flexibility than traditional
contact centers and allows agents to scale up quickly to manage peak
call times or spikes in business. Expanding broadband internet access
into rural areas will enable Sitel and other U.S.-based outsourcers to
tap into an entirely new domestic market and bring new jobs to these
communities.”
Sitel launched
HomeShore, its propriety home-based agent offering, in July 2008 in
the U.S. and Canada.
